Is the exam in person or online?
The GEP exam is administered online. You can register for the GEP online through the website and take the exam from anywhere in Colombia.
How long does it take to receive the results?
Results are available 1 to 5 business days after you take your exam (depending on whether it covers 3 or 5 skills).

Within 2 to 3 business days, you will receive your exam notification via email. It is very important that you read all the instructions carefully.

Where is the GEP valid?
The GEP exam is valid at all Colombian institutions, as it is endorsed by the Colombian Ministry of Education in Resolution 18035 of 2021, under the “PROFICIENCY” section, which allows it to be recognized by all educational institutions, companies, and, in general, in all foreign language certification processes.
Will the GEP be approved or rejected?
Este examen no se pierde o se pasa. El GEP mide tu nivel de inglés desde el A1 hasta el C2 del MCER. You should check with the institution requesting the certificate to find out what level you need for the process you are applying for.
How long is the exam valid for?
Two years from the date of the exam. Ninety-five percent of international exams of this type are valid for two years from the date of the exam.
Can I take the exam every day?
You can check our website to see the available sessions. They are usually held on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
Remember that the exam is 100% virtual and you can take it anywhere in Colombia.

Requirements and recommendations for taking your exam
Our recommendations are:
Computer equipment:
Laptop or desktop computer with an up-to-date operating system (Windows or macOS).
A dual-core processor and at least 4 GB of RAM are required.
Internet connection:
Recommended minimum speed of 10 Mbps with consistent performance.
A wired connection (Ethernet) is preferred to avoid Wi-Fi outages.
Audio and video:
A working webcam that remains on throughout the exam.
A microphone and headphones in good condition to ensure clear communication.
Testing environment:
A quiet, well-lit space free from distractions.
The use of cell phones, tablets, or other electronic devices is not permitted.
Software and platform:
An up-to-date browser (Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge).
Access to the official GEP exam platform using the login credentials sent previously.
Possible installation of a monitoring system or remote supervision application to ensure the security of the exam.
Prior verification:
Mandatory technical test before the exam to check the camera, microphone, connection, and system compatibility.
A valid ID for verification at the start of the session.
