Is the exam in person or online?
The TOEFL iBT exam can be scheduled either in person or online (Home Edition). You can view the list of test centers in Colombia here.
For the Home Edition, you must comply with the following requirements: a private location, an active camera and microphone, no third parties present, no additional screens or devices, and only permitted materials (e.g., an acrylic board). Failure to comply with these rules may result in disqualification by ETS, and the Amigos de Fulbright Foundation is not responsible for any disqualification or cancellation of results.
How much does the TOEFL iBT cost?
The TOEFL iBT test consists of four skills

Cost through the Friends of Fulbright Foundation: 910,000 COP
Registration includes, at no additional cost, a self-paced TOEFL iBT preparation course (10 hours) and practice exams.
Results are available 3 to 5 business days after submission.
Where is the TOEFL iBT accepted?
The TOEFL iBT exam is accepted by all Colombian institutions, as it is recognized by the Colombian Ministry of Education under Resolution 18035 of 2021, in the PROFICIENCY section, which allows it to be recognized by all educational institutions, companies, and, in general, in all foreign language certification processes. It is also accepted by various international institutions and in visa processes.
Is the TOEFL iBT a pass-or-fail test?
Este examen no se pierde o se pasa. El TOEFL iBT mide tu nivel de inglés desde el A1 hasta el C2 del MCER. You should check with the institution requesting the certificate to find out what level you need for the process you are applying for.
How long is the exam valid for?
Two years from the date of the exam. Ninety-five percent of international exams of this type are valid for two years from the date of the exam.
Can I take the exam every day?
On the ETS website, where you’ll need to create an account, you’ll be able to see the dates and times for taking the exam based on the format (in-person or Home Edition). Exams are offered almost every day at different times, making it easier for you to take the test.
Remember that if you’re taking the Home Edition, you’ll need a good internet connection 🛜
Requirements and recommendations for taking your exam
Our recommendations are:
- Make sure you have a PC with good internet, preferably connected to cable.
- Make sure you have a webcam and microphone turned on, as the platform monitors these.
- You are in an enclosed space with no other people.
- Do not use two screens, as this will remove you from the exam.
- Do not open any more tabs or browsers.
- Keep your PC connected to the power source at all times.
- Very important: We recommend that you do not use any external devices, do not have cell phones or people around you, focus exclusively on your screen, and do not look anywhere else so that you are not expelled from the exam. The platform detects the movement of your iris outside the screen and flags possible fraud.

Do you offer English courses?
We do not offer English courses. We recommend that you contact the nearest Colombo Americano Center in your city. There you can find out about online and in-person courses to learn and improve your English.
Difference between the TOEFL ITP and TOEFL IBT exams
Basically, the difference lies in the cost, content, grading scale, administration time, and frequency of application dates and results delivery.
Both are official exams, recognized by various educational institutions and the Colombian Ministry of Education.
However, in most cases, the TOEFL IBT is usually taken to study for an undergraduate degree at a university in the United States once the admission process has been completed.
The TOEFL ITP is used throughout the rest of the world, including Colombia, to certify students at schools, national or foreign universities, or other educational institutions.
It is also used for applications to work in a national or international company.
When and how can I check my test results?
Three to five business days after taking the exam on the ETS platform, you will be able to view your exam results and the institutions with which they were shared, if you selected that option. ETS also offers an express service that delivers the certificate more quickly for a fee of USD $35.

The Foundation does not issue, modify, or submit results.

What exactly am I buying with Fundacion?
You purchase a voucher (prepaid code) to pay for the TOEFL iBT on the official Educational Testing Service (ETS) platform in COP. Registration, scheduling of the test date and location, test administration, proctoring, scoring, results, and technical support are handled exclusively by ETS. FAF does not administer the test.
Does the voucher guarantee me a specific date?
No. The voucher does not reserve a specific date. When you redeem it, you choose from the dates and test centers available at ETS at that time. You must redeem it at least 8 days before taking the exam. Otherwise, ETS will charge you an additional fee.
How do I register with the voucher?
- Once you purchase the exam on our website, you’ll receive an email with a PDF containing the voucher code.
- Log in to ETS and create or log in to your ETS account →
- Select TOEFL iBT
- Select a date/location (or Home Edition)
- At checkout, select “Voucher/Promo Code”
- Enter your code and confirm.
- You will receive confirmation of your appointment along with instructions for your exam.

Who can help me if I have trouble scheduling an appointment or if the system crashes?
ETS. They manage registration, the testing platform, and support for the exam (including the Home Edition and test centers).
The Friends of Fulbright Foundation only handles the sale of the voucher.

How much does it cost to reschedule, register for “express” service in less than 8 days, or request a review of sections?
ETS may charge additional fees for rescheduling, express registration (scheduling the test with less than 8 days’ notice), and Score Review (Speaking/Writing). The amounts are set by ETS and are subject to change; check the “Other Fees” section on the ETS website when you register.
Can the Friends of Fulbright Foundation change the date, issue, or correct my results?
No. FAF does not administer the exam. Changes to the test date, registration, scores, and the submission of results are the responsibility of exclusive to ETS. These incur additional costs in dollars on the ETS platform.
What happens if ETS invalidates my score for security or integrity reasons?
ETS may cancel test scores when it detects irregularities. FAF does not make these decisions or intervene in them. If you receive a notification from ETS, you must follow ETS’s instructions and procedures.
Do you offer accommodations for people with disabilities?
Requests for disability accommodations must be submitted directly to ETS, along with supporting medical documentation, and within the deadlines set by ETS. FAF does not handle these approvals.
What are the technical requirements for Home Edition?
A compatible computer, a supported web browser, a working camera and microphone, a stable internet connection, and a private space free from interruptions. ETS publishes a checklist and requires participants to complete a mandatory system test beforehand.
Can I switch locations or switch from the Home Edition to the Center Edition (or vice versa)?
This depends on availability and ETS’s rescheduling policy (fees in dollars may apply). Manage the change in your ETS account.
